Avocadoes trees grow and thrive well in the tropical and subtropical regions. Kenya, has tropical climate as it lies at a latitude of 6 degrees south to the Indian Ocean. In Kenya, Hass avocadoes are majorly grown for export with 20,000 metric tons exported annually to the European Union and Middle East. The fruit has nutritional values as it contains vitamins A, B1, B2, C and D. Hass avocados are grown in Nyeri, Kiambu, Meru, and Kisii regions. Avocados grow best in regions with an altitude of 1500 -2100 meters. Hass variety, thrive best at 25 – 28 degrees Celsius. The preferred rainfall should be at least 1000 mm and spread throughout the growing season. Avocado farmers in Kenya are encouraged to use irrigation techniques for optimal yields. The best soils for avocado farming should be free-draining soils with a pH of 5.5 – 6.5
